Pirate Day Penzance

World Record Attempt

In 1614 Penzance Town Council was granted its official Charter by King James 1st and 400 years later the town is gearing up to celebrate this monuments occasion.

After the success of the first record breaking Pirate Day back in 2011, Penzance will be looking to regain its crown for the most Pirates assembled in one place. The event is due to take place over Whitsun Bank Holiday weekend with the official Pirate count taking place on Penzance prom, May 26th at 4pm. We have listed some of the entertainment below:

Sunday 25th May at the Blue Anchor, Spingo tent

Starting at 12pm there will be musical entertainment with the Oddfolk and guests as well as Tros n Treys, Gurdy Bird, Jeffery Nuthin and Capt’s Beard. This will run until 6pm. Also starting at noon there will be a rugby match organised by Patch Harvey, Coxswain of the Penlee Lifeboat. His RNLI team will be playing the Penzance Firemen at the Cornish Pirates RFC grounds at Alexandra Road in aid of the RNLI and Penzance Firefighters, followed that night by a Live music concert held in the Marquee on the RFC grounds.

Monday 26th May 2014 Guinness World Record Attempt

To be held on Penzance Promenade. There will be a Kids ‘Port O’ Call’ in St Anthony’s gardens, where there will be face painters, make up artists, small fairground rides, entertainment through out the day put on by various pirate groups with all sorts of games and activities. But please remember to make your way to the official pirate area on the Prom by 4pm, otherwise you won’t be counted as part of the Record Breaking Attempt…We need all of you!
