Mount Haven Restaurant

All our fish comes from Newlyn on the other side of the bay, while the meat is from a farm in nearby St Just, meaning that whether you are enjoying a romantic dinner in the restaurant or a light lunch on the suntrap terrace, you will be sure of the very best Cornwall has to offer.

One of the delights of the restaurant is the fresh local and mainly organic ingredients that we use. Our talented team of chefs are spoiled with the quality of Cornish produce and take great satisfaction in preparing and cooking it in ways that best complements the great natural flavours and textures. For example, you can really taste the freshness of fish landed that morning and cooked expertly that same day. Our meat is from a local farmer whose animal welfare is amongst the best practice in the country – you’ll find the tenderness of the meat proof of it.

We can cater for all dietary requirements. Just let us know and Chef will propose something exciting and different for you every night. For families with young children, we offer a children’s menu or chef can prepare anything off the a la carte menu smaller and more simply prepared to suit.

Considering the quality, you’ll find our a la carte prices are very reasonable and our portions generous.

Acupuncture with Heather Campbell

The philosophy of traditional acupuncture views good health as dependant on the flow of Qi energy moving in a balanced and harmonious way through the pathways under the surface of the skin. Many factors can create a state of imbalance which then manifest as symptoms. Acupunc- ture works on all types of conditions from musculoskeletal to hormonal, to restore balance. It also aims to target the root cause of the condition and therefore can be used as a preventative treatment as well as being effective for chronic, long standing conditions and acute sudden condi- tions. It is particularly effective in conjunction with other conditions playing a supportive role in physical and nutritional therapies.

Heather’s approach is particularly gentle and needle-phobes need not fear.

Reiki

Pronounced ray-key, the word actually means ‘free flow of universal energy’. It is the name given to a system of natural healing which origi- nated in Tibet and was rediscovered in the 1870s by Japanese Master, Dr Mikao Usui, after many years of study and meditation. There is no belief system attached to Reiki. A practitioner is merely a channel for this universal life force, which is drawn unconsciously by the recipient through the channel. The energy will be drawn to the areas of most imbalance bringing mind, body and soul back into alignment. It will flow to the areas of need, soothing pain and amplifying the body’s natural ability to heal itself. There is no need to remove any clothing during a Reiki session, as the energy will flow through even a plaster cast.

Allow one hour for a full treatment – £35.00

Reflexology

Unknown to most of us there are 5000 nerve endings in our feet. Usually the most neglected part of our bodies. By skilfully manipulating and massaging the feet, a reflexologist stimulates and relaxes our entire system. Another ancient healing art which regained popularity in the 19th century, reflexology is recognised as one of the most powerfully healing holistic therapies available. One has to experience a reflexology session to fully appreciate the depth of well being it promotes. Not declaring itself as a cure in itself, rather, a treatment actually stimulates the body to heal itself by releasing blocks in the system.

Allow 1 hour and 15 minutes – £45.00

Indian Head Massage

This therapy has become very popular over the last 10 years having been brought to the attention of British therapists through integration with therapists from the Indian sub-continent. Believed by them to not only de-stress the mind, neck and head area of the body, but by releas- ing these tensions, stimulating better hair growth and brain power! This is achieved by applying a variety of gentle and vigorous movements, strokes and pressure to acupuncture points. The techniques used are effective with or without the use of oil on the hair – please let your therapist know which you would prefer.

Allow 45 minutes – £35

It has been successfully used for the treatment of anxiety, stress, fears, phobias, addictions, post trauma’s, insomnia, migraines etc. It is based on the principle of balancing the body’s energy system which is achieved by tapping key acupressure points (seated and fully clothed) while focusing on your identified issues. Vibrational Healing with Jan Morgans

Jan’s belief is that everything is energy vibrating at different frequencies. This includes the cells and organs of our bodies. The hypothesis is that disease occurs when we and our bodies become out of balance. The aim of spiritual healing is to restore these energies to their optimum rate of vibration, thus enabling healing to occur. Spiritual healing works on all levels of a person’s being, spiritual, mental and emotional. Jan’s approach is empathetic and non-invasive, largely using a hands-off technique.

Marazion Cornwall

The Mount Haven itself is located a short stroll away from the picturesque village of Marazion, Penzance’s smaller neighbour. As well as offering lots of shops and galleries to browse around, it’s also the staging post to explore St Michael’s Mount and immerse yourself in its three thousand years of history.

Even getting to the Mount is an adventure. During high tide, it’s completely cut off by the sea and can only be reached by boat or amphibious ferry. But, at low tide, the waters recede and it’s fun to walk across via an ancient cobbled path where the fishes swim by.

If you wish to explore the mainland, there are numerous National Trust walks along the famous South West Coast Path and many isolated beaches to be discovered. The nearby villages of Perranuthnoe and Prussia Cove are not only beautiful but the walks there are spectacular and not beyond even the faint-hearted. Just bring the right shoes. The Minack Theatre, built into the cliffs at Porthcurno, is the ninth wonder of the world and worth visiting even if there are no performances to watch. Porthcurno is, of course, a great place to spot the seals and basking sharks. The beach is heavenly and the sea a colour we haven’t seen outside Sardinia .

The Isles of Scilly is a boat ride away and a day trip or a longer stay are worth thinking about whilst you’re down here. If you’re going from here for a couple of days, we’ll even let you leave your car in our car park (for a little donation to our orphanage!).
